A world of cities, and many worlds within each city. In this trans-disciplinary course, students will learn about the unique challenges of collective existence in the increasingly urbanized fabric of the globe. Drawing on a range of critical social science scholarship, supplemented by film and literature, the course explores themes such as social justice, global economic relations, sustainability, communication, citizenship, security and political agency. Prerequisites: Honours standing in Global Studies and at least 1.0 credit in 300 level GS courses, or permission of the instructor.
